Detroit United Railway
The Story Behind the Design
The first electric interurban railway car reached Rochester, MI in 1899. In 1901, that line (along with many others in the area) was purchased by the Detroit United Railway company.
For the next 30 years, these trolley cars transported workers, shoppers, farmers, and all other types of travelers to and from downtown Rochester.
