In 1973, Avon Township gave the go-ahead for a 155,000 sq ft enclosed shopping mall to be built. This mall, to be created on Walton & Adams, was to be different compared to the Winchester Mall that had just opened its first phase at Avon & Rochester roads. It was intended to have a "theme" of its own.
The developers of MeadowBrook Village Mall wanted to create a 19th-century village vibe. The mall featured cobblestone walkways and gas street lights, as well as a puppet theater, cider mill and old-fashioned storefronts for decoration.
The first phase of MeadowBrook Village Mall opened to shoppers in April 1975 and closed it's doors in 2000.
